Physiotherapy FAQs
Got a question before you book?
We've answered some of the things we're asked most often about physiotherapy, appointments, payment and treatment at Physio Goals.
-
Think of physiotherapy, or “physio”, as a body MOT. If you have pain, stiffness, or mobility issues in your muscles or joints, a physiotherapist can help you recover through hands-on treatment, advice, and personalised exercises.
Not sure if we're right for you? Ask us! Our physiotherapists can discuss your situation and advise you. If another service is better, we’ll point you in the right direction free of charge.
-
There’s no difference in training. Physiotherapists complete an approved physiotherapy degree and must meet professional registration requirements before practising.
Many then specialise in:
Neurological conditions (stroke, MS, Parkinson’s)
Musculoskeletal & sports injuries (back pain, arthritis, whiplash)
Cardiovascular rehab (heart disease, post-heart attack recovery)
Respiratory conditions (asthma, COPD)
At Physio Goals in Crewe & Shavington, we specialise in musculoskeletal (MSK) problems. You don’t need a GP referral, and there are no waiting lists.
-
Wear clothing that allows your physiotherapist to see or access the area causing discomfort:
Neck pain → vest top or t-shirt
Leg pain → shorts or leggings
Any clothing removal will be minimal. Privacy is always respected, and a towel will be provided if needed.
-
Payment is taken on the day of your appointment by card. We do not accept cash or cheques.
If you are on a private health cash plan, we can provide a receipt with all of our credentials so you can submit it to your insurer and claim back your treatment.
-
We are registered with BUPA, AXA, WPA, Aviva, and Vitality. Please check with your insurer that your treatment is covered.
To make a claim, bring the following to your first appointment:
Insurer name
Membership/policy number
Excess details
Treatment limits (session caps)
Authorisation code
If your insurer does not settle the claim within 60 days, you are responsible for any outstanding balance.
Tip: If you’re unsure whether your plan covers physiotherapy, call your insurer before your appointment.
-
It depends on your condition. During your first assessment, your physiotherapist will explain typical recovery times and create a plan tailored to you. Some patients need only one session, while others benefit from a series.
